Layer it on!

A white kitchen is like a stunning jewel, that just needs to be enhanced. The neutrals of warm wood soften and black helps to punctuate the style.

Question: “What can I add in terms of materials to warm up my sleek white kitchen?”

White is a versatile neutral that works well in a variety of color schemes and design styles, and it’s hardly sterile and boring. White done right is fresh, modern, timeless, warm and inviting!

Think of white as an excellent starting point for layering a rich range of materials and tones. Many designer’s in these room scenes have shared their recipes for creating neutral spaces that are cozy and inviting.

Perfect Pairings

Shaking up the traditional matched dining set is a great way to personalize your dining room, but it does take some finesse to get it right. Here are some dining chair combinations that strike the right balance between eclectic and pulled together.

Whether your dining area is formal or casual, modern or traditional, elegant or eclectic, one thing is true, you will need dining chairs.

While it’s easy to fall back on the already-put-together table and chair sets, consider thinking differently by mixing styles.

Who made the rule that a matchy match dining room set is the only way to put together a table and some chairs? Why do so many of us feel the need to follow this unwritten tradition in the dining room? I say let’s mix it up in those eating rooms already!

Stylish choices for family friendly furniture

A white sofa used to be the first ingredient in a recipe for disaster. Mix in messy children, dirty paws and drippy desserts, and most adults run for cover. A Tree Grows in Brookfield

Black, white and warm wood, another winning combo in my book of design rules. The tapestry rug softly separates the live edge table from the wood floor.

Cultural trends have long been known to influence design, and this coming year we can expect a big push toward eco-friendly interiors.

Just as sustainability in architecture prides itself on blending form and function, it’s important to focus on using interior design elements that not only look great, but also are well made and minimize the impact to our ecosystem. Continue reading

Embrace the rawness

The Fresno Swivel is a take on the mid-century modern shaped-wood counterstool. Balanced on slender, hand-forged legs, it has an air of simple sophistication. Available in Oak and Maple and handsomely finished to showcase the wood’s grain.

We are passionate about selecting the best designers for LJE and we are crazy about the craft of metal forging.

So we are honored to present Charleston Forge who combines metal with wood, stone and glass, in the making of their fine furniture.
